Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal survived an alarming run to win his fifth European Tour title with a one-off victory over the Alfred Dunhill championship.
The 36-year-old world number 261 started the final lap in Leopard Creek with a three-shot lead, but had six bogeys and a double bogey in its first 13 holes.
He recovered to hole from within three feet at the last for his fifth birdie of a moved three more than 75.
His eight under total was one free from Swede Joel Sjoholm, who was a 69 had.
Larrazabal, who was hit by blisters on his feet, and Dutchman Wil Besseling were seven while playing the par-five 18th in South Africa in the first event of the new season, but the second shot van Besseling embedded next to a stone wall that guarded the green.
The 33-year-old world number 307, looking for his first win in the European Tour, dropped a shot and finished in part of third place with South Africans Branden Grace and Charl Schwartzel, former Masters champion .
