Nick Watney: Coronavirus positive test forces American golfer out of RBC Heritage

Watney is the first golfer to test positive on the PGA Tour after his return

. American golfer Nick Watney withdrew from the RBC Heritage after testing positive for coronavirus prior to the second round.

Watney, 39, delivered a negative test for the tournament and shot a 74 in the first round.

However, a PGA statement said that "before he arrived at the tournament" on Friday, Watney "reported having symptoms consistent with the disease"

Then withdrew after a positive test.

"For the health and wellbeing of everyone involved in the tournament and the community, the tour has started implementing its response plan in consultation with medical experts, including working with people who may be closely have been in touch with Nick, "added the PGA."

The RBC Heritage is the second tournament since golf restart and California-born Watney is the first to test positive on the PGA Tour after returning.
