Two European Tour tournaments disabled due to coronavirus

No date has been set for the rescheduled events

Two European Tour tournaments have been postponed due to corona virus outbreaks.

The Maybank Championship in Malaysia – scheduled for April 16-19 – and the China Open the following week have been canceled.

Both events can be moved later in the year.

"The well-being of our players, spectators and employees is always our absolute priority," said European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley.

"Although it is therefore regrettable that the Maybank Championship and the Volvo China Open have been postponed, we consider this the right course of action at this time.

" We are currently investigating alternative dates for both events . "

A number of other high-profile sporting events have already been postponed due to the coronavirus.

The Chinese Grand Prix, due to place ce on April 19, was postponed due to the outbreak earlier this week.

The all-electric Formula E motor sports series canceled their race in Sanya, China, on March 21.

The World Indoor Athletics Championships, originally scheduled for March 13-15 in Nanjing, has been reset to next

Asian Champions League football games with Chinese clubs Guangzhou Evergrande, Shanghai Shenhua and Shanghai SIPG were postponed to May.

And a number of rugby sevens, tennis, boxing and basketball events have also been postponed.
