The golf world is on the move to support touring professional and popular media person Mark Allen, who has revealed that he is stage four cancer.

Allen, 50, learned at the end of last year that he had a significant tumor in the gut and a secondary cancer in the breast.

He told the Herald Sun over the weekend that he needed surgery to remove 18 percent of a lung, and this week he faces more operations to remove 70 percent of his intestines.

A radio presenter with the Macquarie network, father of two Allen, had previously chosen to keep his condition private, and continued to work in the radio

"There is no doubt that I got the news that I was fourth," Allen said. "In a while alone you are in the car and you start thinking the worst. All your life long all you want to do is take care of (wife) Trish and the children. You ride along and think of funeral songs. they play at my funeral?

"But that disappeared pretty quickly. Let's make good music and now I'm singing in the car again. I have a few superstar doctors and I trust it. & # 39; & # 39;

Allen played the Australasian tour for 14 years before engaging in coaching and media, becoming a popular after-dinner speaker and host.

He is now confronted with another three months of radiology and chemotherapy after this week's surgery. "At the moment it is a very good story and we have checked every box and we just have to go through the second half," he said.
