The hope of Neangar Park Golf Club to provide all golfers in the Bendigo region with more ways to enjoy the game is one step closer.

Plans for a new driving range and a nine hole & # 39; pitch & # 39; n & # 39; put & # 39; have been approved and prepared for the project, construction will begin this winter.

President Philip DeAraugo is delighted to be able to offer a breakthrough facility to members of Neangar Park and all social golfers in Bendigo.

"When we plotted it on social media, our design plans, it went wrong," DeAraugo told Golf Australia.

"We had a lot of people who said they didn't play golf, but are really interested in that kind of competition."

The project will be funded in part by the club, but made possible by a grant from Sport Australia.

"We are a fairly small club with around 450 members, so we always thought we should try to get funding," says DeAraugo.

"By working with Golf Australia and our local politicians, we have been able to free some money to contribute to the project."

Golfers who want to see the new facility do not have to wait long, with an expected action radius in early 2020 and the pitch & # 39; n & # 39; putt course ready to play in 2021.

"We're looking at starting work towards the end of the winter," says DeAraugo.

"The action radius happens first and then we do the pitch & # 39; n & # 39; putt. That will hopefully be operational by the end of the summer and then the pitch & # 39; n & # 39; putt the following summer. "
