Sue Wooster is on a mission.

Wooster, 57, has reached the quarter finals of the US Senior Women & # 39; s Amateur today and uses the disappointment of last year's loss in the final as her driving force.

After her dream run of 2018 was short and concise against Lara Tennant, the Victoria today flowed to the final 16 after two match wins at Cedar Rapids Country Club, Iowa.

"I am not sure if I am last year," Wooster said to Tennant about her loss of 3 and 2 last October.

"I only take one step at a time, but I have a chance.

"I'm pretty proud of myself that I've come this far and that gives me some confidence in the future."

The member of the National Golf Club insisted three times champion and number 2 sowed Ellen Port in the first game of the day during the round of 32, with clutch wins on the 17th and 18th holes that seal the 1-win.

An opening bird set the pace, but by the ninth, Wooster came in 2-down.

But the five-time national champion, including home, New Zealand and Canada, remained unaffected and quietly played the last nine holes two, while Port came loose with four bogeys and a double to admit the game to the latter.

Wooster collected another incredible performance in her second game in the round of 16 to knock down No.47 seed Tara Fleming.

“It was a real fight in the morning; to beat Ellen Port, I just got fired up, "said Wooster, from Lysterfield, a suburb of Melbourne.

"She has a game, you know? I played well again this afternoon, and Tara played good golf to get me back to 2-up. I got it up and down at 16 and 17 to halve those holes, so that was fun

"I have reduced the speed of the greens; hopefully that will last."

The five-time national champion pushed three birdies into her 2 & 1 victory, and even reached 4-up in the first five holes.

The amateur contender of the seven-time American senior ladies will compete against two-time British amateur senior champion Laura Webb, Ireland, in the quarter-finals.
