South African George Coetzee claimed his fifth European Tour victory with a one-shot win at the Portugal Masters.
The 34-year-old No. 147 in the world started the last day one battle ahead and achieved a five-under 66 for a total of 16 under at Dom Pedro Victoria, Vilamoura.
Laurie Canter, the 30-year-old from Bath in search of a first title, drove from 10 yards to the last and a bogey-free 66 gave him a best second career .
World Number 16 Tommy Fleetwood put seven birdies in a 64 and came in third.
Coetzee won his 11th Sunshine Tour event in his native South Africa last week, adding a first win in Europe, while his other European Tour titles came in South Africa and Mauritius .
His tee shot on the 16th threw just inches from the hole and he changed the birdie putt from six feet to regain the lead before making a superb approach at the next set up a new birdie.
