Connor Syme won his first European Tour title last year

Connor Syme hopes his & # 39; foot in the door & # 39; when he competes in his first US Open this week.

The Scottish golfer, 25, finished in joint eighth place at the recent Andalucia Masters – his third straight top-10 finish on the European Tour.

This year's US Open begins at Winged Foot in New York State on Thursday.

"It will be another etching I am trying to add to my career, if you will," Syme, who turned pro in 2017, told BBC Scotland.

"Trying to win these kinds of events in the future will be a goal, but you have to get your foot in the door and try to play with it as a start."

Syme & # 39; sm of great experience is limited to The Open, where he failed in 2017 and last year.

However, he looks forward to testing himself against some of the world's best in the United States.

"Trying to play all 72 holes is goal number one, and try to win from there," he said.

& # 39; If I can play solid, you just never know. I really have no idea what to expect. "
