Alex Levy leaves Celtic Classic after friend tests positive for Covid-19

Alex Levy has been replaced at Celtic Manor by Dane Martin Simonsen

Frenchman Alex Levy is coming out of the Celtic Classic of the European Tour in Newport after being in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19.

Levy would play in the event at Celtic Manor, starting on Thursday.

However, the organizers intervened after Levy discovered a friend he had met at home in France last weekend who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The 30-year-old tested negative upon his arrival at the site in Wales on Tuesday.

He has shown no symptoms of the virus and has been isolating himself for 14 days.


"I told the European Tour immediately after I found out that my friend tested positive," s help Levy.

"I have been informing them about my movements since arriving on the scene, as I wanted to ensure the safety of my fellow professionals and their caddies."
