England Luke Donald got into conflict after he had booked a four-under 66 with the Honda Classic to place one shot behind straight leader Brendan Steele in Palm Beach.

After a first-round par 70, Donald made eight birdies to sit level in the rankings with countryman Lee Westwood.

Westwood, a shot from the lead after the first round, consolidated his position with a second-round 69.

Joint night leader Tom Lewis finished in 75 and finished in 34th place .

Steele's 135 strokes, after Friday's 67 round, earned him the outright lead in the mid-stage, while fellow American James Tyree Poston joins Donald and Westwood a shot further on four below.

World number three Brooks Koepka missed the cut after shooting consecutive rounds of 74 on the PGA National, as champion Rickie Fowler 2017, defending champion Keith Mitchell and Justin Rose of England as o missed.

Tommy Fleetwood reached the ninth position in two after par after a 68, while Ian Poulter lies two shots further back, tied for the 24th position.
