Hopewell & Kay lead after third place in Tasmania

Hayden Hopewell from Western Australia has taken the lead in the Men's Tasmanian Open Golf Championship 201 at Ulverstone.

The 17-year-old member of Royal Fremantle scored a one-under-par 71 during the third round of today to lead the field at four-under.

& # 39; Night leader, Adam Thorp of the Federal Golf Club in the Australian Capital Territory, dropped to third place next to Launceston's Mitch Van Noord.

Thorp hit a five-over 77, while Van Noord managed to finish a 74 at the same level for the tournament.

The pair is two strokes behind the second placed Aiden Didone of the Metropolitan Golf Club in Victoria.

Didone reached the classification with a well-played two-under-par-lap of 70 and is well within striking distance with one round to go.

Queensland Rebecca Kay has taken the lead in the Women's Tasmanian Open Golf Championship 201 at Ulverstone Golf Club.

The 20-year old Coolangatta and Tweed Heads golfer brought back a three-under-par 70 in the third round of today to lead the field at four-under.

At night leader, Kathryn Norris of Mandurah Country Club in Western Australia is second, three strokes of Kay on one-under-par after carding a 76.

Sanctuary Cove Golf Club & # 39; s Isabelle Taylor is another two strokes back in third place on one-over-par after a 76 return.

Local member Sarah Johnstone is the leading Tasmanian in a draw for eighth place on nine-over-par.

Tasmania Golf Club junior, Mackenzie Wilson, blinded spectators with a nice round of 72 points today, to finish two places higher to eleventh.

David Gleeson from New South Wales won the Men & # 39; s Tasmanian Senior Masters at the Ulverstone Golf Club in 2019.

The 59-year-old Dubbo Golf Club member scored rounds of 76, 84 and 78 for a 54-hole total of 238.

Gleeson finished three times away from his colleague New South Welshman, Peter Zotti, who returned rounds of 80, 76 and 85 for his total of 241.

Wygolf Golf Club David McClelland completes the top three with scores of 80, 85 and 79, a total of 244.

Richard Denholm, Royal Hobart Golf Club, was the leading Tasmanian in fourth place with 81, 80 and 86.

Hall comfortably described her closest rival and sister, Deidre Panton, with thirteen strokes that 81, 83 and 82 crossed the three-day event.
