Annika Sorenstam Makes LPGA Return After 13 Years

Annika Sorenstam played celebrity at the Orlando Tournament of Champions in January

Annika Sorenstam will compete in her first Tour event in 13 years at the LPGA Gainbridge Championship in Florida.

Sweden's 10-time Grand Winner, who won 72 LPGA events and 90 titles worldwide, retired in 2008.

The Florida-based Soren tribe left the sport to start a family.

"I've been thinking about it ever since I heard the event came to Lake Nona, where we've lived for years," Sorenstam said. & # 39; The members keep asking me to play and I thought why not? & # 39;

The Gainbridge LPGA will take place at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, Orlando, between February 25-28.

Sorenstam, 50, added that, "schedule permitting," she plans to attend the US Senior Women's Open in August.

Swede played her first Tour event in 1993 – and in 2003 she became the first woman to play in a PGA Men's Tour event for 58 years.
