Padraig Harrington: Ryder Cup captain withdraws from tournament after positive testing for Covid-19
Harrington is three-time winner
Padraig Harrington has withdrawn from the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after testing positive for Covid-19.
The Ryder Cup captain competed at the Phoenix Open last week and was ready to compete in his fourth PGA Tour event of the season in California.
Harrington will now undergo a period of self-isolation under US CDC guidelines.
Korean golfer Bae Sang-moon will take his place at the Pebble Beach event, which will take place on two courses.
The tournament has had to make changes due to the pandemic, with the Pro-Am part canceled due to Covid-19 protocols.
Rather than being contested across three courses this year, the event will take place at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill, with the cut after 36 holes instead of 54.
Worldwide number one Dustin Johnson, fresh from his Saudi International triumph of the European Tour, has also withdrawn from the event.
Johnson, whose latest victory marked his ninth European Tour title, thought it would be best to enjoy a week at home before competing in the Genesis Invitational and World Golf Championships in The Concession.
