Wallace, who still has a chance, stands at 12 below, for countryman Ross Fisher, Scot Richie Ramsay, Belgian Thomas Detry and Swede Niklas Lemke.
Lemke came close to a world record by making eight consecutive birdies – one less than the record – in his 64.
Matthew Jordan, who broke the track record on Thursday, is at nine under.
He followed his 63rd on day one with a level par 72 while Lee Westwood is a shot farther to eight under.
The second round was stopped for 72 minutes just before & # 39; noon due to the threat of lightning.
Lemke started his round on the back nine and made eight birdies in the row from the 13th to the second but failed to match the record of Mark Calcavecchia and the Australian James Nitties when he finished in third greenside bunker.
