Celtic Classic: Connor Syme leads Sam Horsfield to the final round

Scottish Connor Syme has a one-shot lead to the final round of the Celtic Classic at Celtic Manor after reaching 63 on day three.

Syme made eight birdies and didn't drop a shot as he advanced to 15 under.


The 25-year-old, who took part in the Challenge Tour in 2019, is chasing a first victory in the European Tour.

England's Sam Horsfield, 23, is second at 14 under 68 and is looking for a second European Tour title after winning the Hero Open this month.

Swedish Sebastian Soderberg is third at 13th bottom after a third round 65, while Adrian Meronk from Poland and Belgian Thomas Detry share fourth place with Englishman Andrew Johnston at 12th bottom.

Callum from England Shinkwin is 11 under, next to another Belgian, Ryder Cup player Thomas Pieters, who was in the lead for a while on Saturday, thanks in part to two eagles in three holes, but slid back after a triple-bogey seven on the 15th.

Marc Warren from Scotland belongs to a group of five players on 10 under, with the English duo David Horsey and Matthew Southgate a shot further back next to the Welshman Rhys Enoch, who on day three 69 shot.

Oliver Farr of Wales is ranked 54th in fourth place, with a third home player, Jamie Donaldson, third below.
