Creamer leads after Evian Championship first round

Former number two Paula Creamer carded a seven-under-par 64 to hold a one-shot lead after the first round of the Evian Championship.

American Creamer, who won the US Women's Open in 2010, hit seven birdies without dropping a shot at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France.

The Australian Minjee Lee would share the lead with Creamer, but hit the last one.

England Melissa Reid is two shots behind Creamer after shooting a 66.

This is the first time that Creamer has been at the top of an important ranking since the US Women & # 39; s Open won with four strokes.

"I really just feel in control," said Creamer, 32. "It has been a number of years that I just felt good in my shoes all in all."

Meanwhile, England Charley Hull has taken four shots off the lead, hitting three birdies in a spotless round for a three-under 68, while fellow countrymen Georgia Hall and Meghan MacLaren are still a blow back.
