Abbie Teasdale took out Stephanie Bunque today.

It was a day of unrest when the legendary Victorian Amateur Championship started at Kingston Heath today.

Medalist Louis Dobbelaar from Queensland was the first to tumble and lost in the first round of match play against Jang Hyun Lee from New Zealand, the reigning New Zealand amateur champion 5 and 3.

Lee, in turn, was defeated by Tim Walker of Yarra Yarra in the 16-hour lap.

South Australian Billy Cawthorne, who finished second in the Port Phillip amateur in the Port Phillip Amateur, also fell in the first round and lost to Patric Kroschel of the same club, Royal Adelaide, 3 and 2.

Nr. 3 seed Jack Thompson from South Australia also lost in the first round to prove the fickle nature of match play golf.

Port Phillip Open women's champion Stephanie Kyriacou was a favorite player to continue and beat Keeley Marx of Victoria in the round of 16 today, 2 and 1 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Gifted New South Wales Doey Choi lost to Victorian player Jeneath Wong.

But another big name to fall was the Victorian amateur champion Stephanie Bunque 2017, who lost to Abbie Teasdale of Western Australia, the amateur champion of 2018.
