Rookie Victor Perez claimed his first European Tour title in his 29th appearance after posting a final 70 round to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship with one shot to win.

The 27-year-old, who lives just a few miles from St. Andrews in Dundee, missed his 12-foot birdie putt at the last minute but a close-up par was good enough to see him become the first French winner of this tournament.

Matthew Southgate from England only finished second in 21 after he also parred the last.
