McIlroy is looking for his first win in the European Tour since 2016

Rory McIlroy got into conflict with the European Masters in Switzerland after photographing a second round 63 to enter one of leader Gavin Green.

McIlroy, 30, has carded eight birdies and an eagle and three bogeys to leave him on par 10.

Tommy Fleetwood from England scores on the same score, as did Wade Ormsby and Andres Romero from Argentina, who produced an astounding round of 61. shot.

Fresh from his Tour Championship victory last weekend, McIlroy turned 33. After following a birdie on the 11th with a bogey, the four-fold big winner caught fire with three birdies and an eagle in his next four holes .

The number two in the world is in a strong position to win at Crans-sur-Sierre, 11 years after missing a first European Tour title when he lost a play-off to Jean-Francois Lucquin.

"Even if I make a bogey man, I like it here and enjoy it," McIlroy told Sky Sports.

"That is probably why I ended up as I did, despite dropping three shots in my 12-hole opening."

He added: "It would have been easy for me to get my foot off the gas after last week. I gave myself a good chance to win this tournament, which I reached earlier. "

McIlroy starts his third round at 10:59 BST on Saturday alongside Ormsby and Schwab, while Fleetwood is out in the last group with Romero and Green and 11:10 BST.
