Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood follow leader Jon Rahm with one shot in the final round of the Players Championship at Sawgrass.

McIlroy from Northern Ireland and Fleetwood from England both recovered from bad starts to their third rounds to shoot in the mid-70s.

Spaniard Rahm had four birdies and an eagle when he was nine in his 64.

Jason Day (68) is 12 younger, Abraham Ancer (70) 11 younger and world number one Dustin Johnson (69) 10 younger.

Johnson is accompanied on November 10 by Americans Ollie Schniederjans (65), Brandt Snedeker (65), Keegan Bradley (68), Brian Harman (71) and Jim Furyk (71).

McIlroy strives for his first tournament win in more than a year, while Fleetwood still has to win in the United States.

Fleetwood told Sky Sports: "I took some terrible photos and made an absolute hash of the first hole after a good tee-shot. Shots at four and in six and seven.

"It was a real test of grit and mental strength. I got it around and did some really good things in the back nine. I am very happy with how it is done. "

McIlroy told NBC Sports:" Running under par was a good attempt after two early bogeys.

"When I was back on level I felt that I had nestled myself in the ground, I was not riding well and I am now going to work on the series."

There is rain and strong wind forecast for the last round of Sunday in Florida.
