American Dustin Johnson won his second title in three months in spectacular style , cruising to victory in the Northern Trust with 11 shots.

The 36-year-old, who finished second in the US PGA this month, made six birdies and an eagle headed for an imperious 63.

Johnson, who will become the last player to become the world's number one, finished 30 under for the tournament with four sub-70 scores after 67, 60 and 64.

Harris English was second with fellow countryman Daniel Berger third.

England's Justin Rose and Tyrrell Hatton finished 11 under with Ian Poulter two shots down and Tommy Fleetwood eight under.

Tiger Woods, winner of 15 majors, bounced back from his two-over par 73 on Saturday with a five-under 66 for six-under overall, while Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy a 69 shot to finish two under.

Johnson didn't quite reach the heights of his Friday 60, but his flawless lap featured an eagle on the par five seconds before knocking off four more birdies on the front nine to get further from to finish English.

He took another shot on the 12th and then, after a delay due to the weather, finished his inevitable victory with a birdie at last.

This was the first of three events in the FedEx Cup of the US circuit playoffs that will determine the PGA Tour champion for this season.

The top 70 players in season points advance to next week's BMW Championship, which will decide the 30 players to enter next month's Seasonal Tour Championship at East Lake, Atlanta .
