Pleasant Valley Golf Club Offers Rest Near Washington D.C.
October 20, 2020
The Washington, D.C. Bypass Road can be a noisy, stormy place – especially in an election year. That makes the serenity of a day at Pleasant Valley Golf Club worth enjoying. This non-residential golf course offers a natural, scenic and peaceful 18-hole course just 25 minutes west of the district.
Pleasant Valley Golf Club, located in Chantilly, Virginia, is a semi-private course that opened in 1998 and was designed by Tom Clark of Ault, Clark & Associates. Rated by Golf Digest as a 4.5 star facility, there are four sets of tees that stretch to 6,915 yards, while the forward set plays a comfortable 5,106. Gentle rolling hills, meadows and holes lined with hardwoods make the hustle and bustle of the city seem like a distant memory. In fact, Dulles Airport is only a 15-minute drive away.
One of the highlights of the layout is the par-5 5th hole, which plays along the densely wooded eastern boundary of the site. This uphill tee shot requires you to navigate past a bunker, and if you have a big drive you need to decide whether to challenge the three bunkers guarding the front of the green or lie back in a safer position. The par-3 7th hole, which plays over a tee-to-green of a pond, will also test your mettle.
"Pleasant Valley is a great layout", Golf Advisor reviewer cjpayne6046 wrote in their August 2020 review. "With good variety, nice area without houses, some interesting holes, some scoring options and some real challenges . It is also very walkable. "
Green fees range from $ 65 during the week to $ 85 on weekends and holidays. Seniors and juniors receive special rates and there are also rates for low season and dusk. Recent updates to Pleasant Valley Golf Club include a refresh of the club house, including a nice new paint job. Bunkers have been updated with new sand and several tee boxes have been renovated this fall. There is a full practice facility with a short playing area.
A day at Pleasant Valley Golf Club is a day of golf in the District of Columbia-NoVa, well done.
