Austrian Bernd Wiesberger had hoped to defend the title of the Scottish Open to a limited audience

The decision to have spectators at the Scottish Open at Renaissance Club next month has been reversed.

The East Lothian tournament was chosen as a pilot for the return of fans, with 650 allowed on both Saturday and Sunday.

However, an increase in coronavirus cases has resulted in an interruption of all sports testing events.

The European Tour event, moved from the usual July slot to October 1-5, will take place behind closed doors.
