In recent years I have been hunting for the best golf shirts. I know that many golfers use the big name brands as standard, but there are also numerous independent companies that make better products. After several visits to the PGA show and a lot of tests on the track, I have a nice list for you.
In my opinion, all of these brands offer a great combination of design features along with superior fabrics. I play most of my golf on Long Island. We often have brutal and humid conditions in the summer – so every listed company has passed the performance test. I will link to their websites, along with the in-depth reviews I have written if you want to know more about it.
Linksoul
Linksoul is my favorite clothing brand because I can wear their clothes on and next to the golf course. My cupboard is filled with almost everything they sell, but on the golf course I especially like their Anza Drytech Polo. It is made of super soft cotton that can be worn under almost all circumstances. Moreover, the design can easily be worn in an informal or working environment. They also have lots of other polo options to choose from.

Rhoback
When I tried Rhoback's signature performance polo for the first time last year, I was very impressed with the design, comfort and quality of the fabric. Their polyester and spandex mix is perfect for a warm summer day and it almost feels like you're not wearing anything. I will often reach out to their Fairway Boy Polo if the temperature rises. This small Virginia brand is growing fast and they have done an excellent job of expanding their line with new designs.

Tillinger
Jordan Sack first came up with the idea for the Tillinger Etiquette Polo a few years ago during a summer internship in New York City. On Friday, he was able to wear casual business clothes, but did not feel that his golf polos were suitable. While golf shirts would have been more comfortable because of their fabrics – the logos, bright colors and poor fit were not suitable for the office. So a seed was planted. Why not try to make a polo shirt with the high-quality fabrics used in golf clothing?
Years later, after many trials and tribulations, Jordan perfected his design. The Tillinger Etiquette Polo is a versatile polo that you can wear almost anywhere, but also contains the performance fabrics that golfers want while playing. It is easily one of my favorite golf shirts, but also looks great in casual situations. Pretty impressive for a 27 year old who did it all by himself!

Redvanly
Redvanly co-founders Andrew and David got the idea for their clothing brand after they graduated. Both were college athletes who were still active and wanted to create polo shirts that match the needs of their own demographics. Over the years they have done a lot of research and testing to find the best fabrics to improve what the major clothing brands did.
They now have a thriving business and I loved a few of their golf shirts that I tried. They offer a wide range of designs (including the very first pull-on golf shorts) along with various premium fabric options that can withstand almost all conditions.

Swannies
Swannies is based in Minnesota and is a group of boys who make golf shirts for the younger, more casual demographic group. In just a few short years, they have built up an impressive network of golf shops that sell their product, and their brand begins to grow. All of their clothing is reasonably priced, but they do not skimp on the materials. They also have a wide variety of designs that respond to the latest trends. If you don't want the same old golf polo, check them out!

Criquet
Criquet, based in Austin, is one of the most successful independent clothing brands out there. A few years ago, co-founders Hobson and Billy wanted to make the perfect polo that was reminiscent of some of the classic designs that had disappeared. Their original product, The Players Shirt, quickly exploded and got name recognition. I love their polo because it crosses the line between preppy, casual and formal without crossing too deeply into either look. It is now available in various fabrics, including a performance mix.

tasc Performance
A few years ago I entered the booth of tasc Performance at the PGA show and felt their shirts. They were remarkably soft and lightweight, so I asked what they were made of. They told me it was bamboo that I didn't know could be used to make a golf shirt. It appears that their family business was rooted in the clothing world for years. When tasc first learned about bamboo, they were intrigued by the performance characteristics, but found it a challenge to work with. After years of development, they were able to perfect a unique blend that was softer than adding cotton for performance characteristics.
I became a bit obsessed with their line and got some golf polos, as well as athletic clothing. It is incredibly soft, lightweight, stretchable and holds up perfectly on those hot summer days where sweating becomes a problem.
