World No. 94 A-Lim Kim claimed her first major title with a stunning final round at the US Women & # 39; s Open.

Kim, 25, started five battles behind leader Hinako Shibuno, but ended with three consecutive birdies in a four-under 67 to finish three-under overall.

The South Korean made her US Women's Open debut in Houston and this is only her third professional victory.

Worldwide number one Ko Jin-young and American Amy Olson were tied for second, one shot back, with Japanese Shibuno fourth.

The tournament was completed on Monday after the rain-forced game had to be abandoned on Sunday.

Kim hit three birdies on the front nine to reach two, but bogeyed the 10th and 11 to slip back when Olson, starting one battle behind Shibuno, was in the lead with two shots.

Still, Kim responded with birdies on the 16th and 17th to take the lead with Olson, who at that point had five holes left to play.

Another birdie to finish gave Kim the lead in the clubhouse, and a bogey on the 16th left Olson two birdies to force a game. -off.

She couldn't make a par until the 17th before a final birdie saw her card a one-over 72 and claimed second to Ko, who hit four birdies and a bogey in a three under 68.

Shibuno had been in charge since the second round on Friday, but struggled under the circumstances, dropping four bogeys to level par in the first 11 holes.

There was another bogey on the 17th, but she also made two birdies on the back nine to get a three-over 74 and finish in an under.
