Oliver Wilson from England took a five-under-par 67 to share fourth place on the way to the final round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa.
Countryman and defending champion Lee Westwood shot three to share sixth, while leader Zander Lombard shot a 72 tonight to stay under 11.
The Belgian Thomas Detry and the South African Louis Oosthuizen of Lombard are one shot from the lead.
Tommy Fleetwood fell to 12th place after shooting a one-over-par 73.
World number 234 Lombard, 24, maintained its lead at the Sun City event, despite struggling to three past par after eight holes on Saturday.
Lombard started the week 76th in the Race to Dubai – decided during next week's Tour Championship – in which the top 50 players qualify for the season's final.
A first win of the European Tour would bring Lombard to 13th place and win the first prize of $ 2.5 million.
The three-under-third third round of Detry ensured that the Belgian was firmly in the fight, although a bogey on the 18th cost him the chance to join Lombard as leader of the night.
Oosthuizen started the day two shots of the lead and briefly moved to outright leader prior to the Lombard restoration.
Lombard said: "I just couldn't get it going today. I really didn't make any mistakes, I just missed two or three fairways that really put me behind the eight ball and you can't attack this golf course if you are not on the fairway.
"I don't want to sound stubborn, but it was a long time ago. I have really made great strides in how I do things on and next to the golf course. It is nice to get some feedback and some results of the hard work. "
