A re-elected Andrews Labor government will upgrade golf courses across Victoria and invest in the second phase of the Home or Golf project in Sandringham Golf Club, to ensure that more clubs can go to even greater heights .
Golf in Victoria generates $ 849 million in the state's economy and supports 6,900 jobs. More than 300,000 Victorians play golf on more than 350 jobs in the state and we want to expand our reputation as the golf capital of Australia.
In four short years we hosted the World Cup of Golf and we will organize it again in 2019. We have secured the 2020 Open and 2022 Australian Open Golf tournaments and we have secured the 2019 President's Cup – the third time that we organized this prestigious tournament.
But we want to help expand and grow more golf clubs in Victoria, and attract even more people to the sport.
If we are re-elected, we will make $ 5.3 million available for the second phase of the home or golf project in the Sandringham Golf Club, to & # 39; Sandy's reputation as one of the best golf courses of the sand track preserve.
We will offer 13 additional parking spaces for the high-quality driving range and we will upgrade the existing car park. The golf course will be upgraded with improvements to bunkers, greens and tees, as well as additional water storage.
If the Labor Government is re-elected, it will also receive $ 2 million in grants for small upgrades and equipment to golf clubs across the state, with a number of priority projects that are intended for immediate funding.
We will also provide $ 160,000 over four years for four industry-wide golf shows – these are golf journalism, golf professional, ladies greenkeeper and designer golf courses.
Only Labor will help the golf sport to grow right through Victoria and ensure that golfers play on the very best jobs and enjoy the very best facilities.
