The Georgia Hall in England has the Portland Classic won on the LPGA Tour, beating Ashleigh Buhai in a play-off.

The 2018 Women's Open Champion started the final round with four shots behind her compatriot Mel Reid, who led after 36 holes of the 54-hole event.

Hal finished with a four-under 68 to tie up with South African Buhai on 12 under, but then won on the second extra hole.

Reid, who turned 33 on Saturday, started the day on the 12th bottom but faded with a 74th and finished in fifth place overall.

Hall headed one as she made the last hole but bogeyed the last to fall into the playoff with Buhai who had four birdies in her last five holes when she got a seven- under-par 65 card.

Both players parred the first extra hole, the 18th. They then played the first and both shot past the green with their second shots. Hall lashed out of the rough and drilled a five-foot putt for par, but Buhai, a three-time Ladies European Tour winner, missed a shorter putt to give Hall the victory.

The tournament at Columbia Edgewater Country Club was reduced to 54 holes due to poor air quality caused by wildfires in the region.
