& # 039; I & # 039; m stripped & # 039; – England & # 039; s Lewis after loss of GolfSixes final to Thailand

Lewis and Waring beat Sweden and Italy in the knock-out phase
Thailand beat England in a closer-the-pin play-off and won the GolfSixes in Oitavos Dunes in Portugal.
Tom Lewis, played with Paul Waring, twice missed putts to defeat Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee and Phachara Khongwatmai.
And Khongwatmai sealed victory with a tee shot to within six feet.
"I am upset," Lewis said. "We have played so many good matches, but we slipped a bit in the beginning and that gave them a little confidence."
The GolfSixes format
Played over six holes – one third of the usual number in a standard round of golf – using the greensomes format Both players in a pair hit a tee shot at each hole and then choose which ball to play with. The pair that wins the hole gets three match points. If the gap is halved, pairs each receive a point. The team with the most points wins the game
After winning their group on Friday, Lewis and Waring defeated Sweden and Italy in Saturday's knockout stages.
Thailand, who defeated Ireland's defending champions in their group and then Scotland and Spain in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively, won the first hole in the final but it was completely square after the third hole when Lewis left his tee shot tapped
On the final hole, Lewis shattered a chance to win the tournament when he missed a five-foot putt before missing the first play-off hole from seven feet to the game to a send the nearest shoot -out where Khongwatmai was closest to his tee shot.
The size of GolfSixes is the equivalent of the European Tour of Twenty20 cricket, with matches that last only six holes and played in a more informal atmosphere.
