Brooks Koepka collaborated with Graeme McDowell in Alfred Dunhill Links last year in Scotland
US PGA leader Brooks Koepka says that listening to Graeme McDowell in Northern Ireland helps in his mental approach to his game.
The American, pursuing a fourth big win, takes a sevenfold lead in the final round over Bethpage.
"I take a bit of G-Mac – the way he grinds it on the golf course," said the 29-year-old.
Koepka added that McDowell and Dustin Johnson are "boys that I have each mentally grabbed"
Victory at Bethpage would have Koepka retain the US PGA title and make it four major successes from his last eight starts.
Fellow American Johnson is in second place while former US Open champion McDowell is well back on five.
"It's how they approach it – I don't say much, I just listen to them and I let them talk about it and go from there," Koepka said after his third round 70
"I choose what I like and choose what I think I can make a little better mentally. "
