Celebration of women and diversity in sport

The future of golf had its first day in the sun last week.
Melbourne & # 39; s Churchill-Waverley Golf & Bowls Club organized its inaugural multicultural "Women in Sport" event on Wednesday, with 110 participants celebrating diversity and inclusion from a range of ethnic groups.
Club captain Peter Barnes said: "This is a great opportunity for everyone to celebrate the richness of our culture and appreciate the chances of living in Victoria."
"Churchill-Waverley Golf and Bowls Club is proud of the diversity of our membership and openly encourages participation with all members, guests and the public."
Participants started the position with 18 holes of golf or a morning with bowls. After golf and bowls, participants enjoyed lunch with guest speakers Zoe Tompkins (Rise Health and the current women's physiology for the Hawthorn Football Club), as well as former television journalist Helen Kapalos, who now chairs the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
Both fascinated the public with their inspiring stories about how barriers to inclusion can be overcome.
Representatives from Golf Australia and Bowls Victoria attended the event, which also raised money for two extremely valuable charities in Tee up for Kids and Challenge.
