Davis fights back to PGA Tour

Cam Davis is going back to the PGA Tour.

The Sydneysider, known for his performance when the chips are down, did it again this morning, storming through the Korn Ferry Tour Championship field with a final round 67.

Something special needed to make the final series top 25 after starting his last round in a share of the 29th, the odds of the former Australian Open champion were in the balance when he was one through six holes in the Victoria National Golf Club in Indiana.

But a brilliant two birdie on the seventh kick-started an attack that will result in the return of the New South Welshman to the big dance in the 2020 season.

Davis flew the ninth, 10th, 12th, 15th and 16th to tear through the field.

His total of -11 was good enough for a share of the 13th, but all important enough to settle at number 21 in the rankings of the series.

But it wasn't all great news for Australia with falling results, so Curtis Luck from Perth, who missed the cut and generally fell from the 15th to the 29th.

Melbourne Brett pushed Coletta hard during his final round, including a spectacular eagle on the par-five 10th, but his closing 71 only lifted him to T33 in the event and number 66 in general.

Davis had four top-25 finishes in his first year on the main tour, enough to only reach No.160 in the FedEx Cup rankings.

But he now plays his second consecutive season on the PGA Tour, joining Cam Percy and Rhein Gibson as other Aussies to be promoted from the secondary tour.
