Jason Day will breathe new life into the US Open at Pebble Beach this week with Steve Williams on his bag for the first time.
The Australian has decided to work with the former Tiger Woods caddy after a period of using old friends Luke Reardon and Rika Batibasaga on his bag, after having had his coach Col Swatton on his bag many years before.
"It was a team decision to bring Steve in and I think it's a very good one," Swatton told Evin Priest of the Australian Associated Press today (19459005)
"Steve is probably the most productive caddy who has seen golf to help a player win at the highest level, he has caddied for three world number 1 players. We believe it is a decision that can only help Jason in his quest to return to No. 1. & # 39;
It is not clear whether Williams, who caddied for 13 of the majors of Tiger Woods, makes a permanent return to looping. The New Zealander also previously caddied for Adam Scott, and further back, for Greg Norman.
Day is one of eight Australians in the field at Pebble Beach this week.
