Queenslander Lawry Flynn put the finishing touches to a wonderful comeback to end his first international victory at the Malaysian Amateur last week.

Flynn, 21, led the championship early with an opening run of two under 70, but soon forgave his advantage after a turbulent three over 75 on the second day of the 72-hole event at Kelab Golf Sarawak.

The QAS athlete fired back with eight birdies in the third round to immediately put him back in the mix and lead the final round with Singapore's Low Wee Jin at six o'clock.

A fantastic three-under-par 69 in the heat of the final round proved to be enough for the talented left wing, claiming his first international victory with a one-shot buffer over Jin.

"I was pretty damn heated up," Flynn said.

"In the final round the emotions were quite loud, clear.

"You have the chance to win an event, so I just had to do what I had to do to win.

"That meant following my game plan and hitting the big shots under pressure."

"The man who came second, he and I were in front at the start of the day and then we played pretty well in that final round.

Just a few weeks earlier, Flynn finished as the leading Aussie with the Taiwanese Amateur in a share of the fourth.

"I was only a few shots behind the leader," World No.448 said about his result in Taiwan.

"I have played fairly well lately and felt like I was going to play a similar kind of golf game as I did in Taiwan, then I came close to winning the event in Malaysia."

Flynn's nine total was eleven shots prior to Alice Spring's product Jake Hughes and Mount Lawley's Jordan Jung in a share for 8th.
