Hannah Green is starting a new phase in her golf career this week – and her life.

Green, the 22-year-old from Perth who amazed the golf world by taking her first major tour and winning a major championship at KPMG Women's PGA Championship in Minneapolis last month, is back on the golf course for another major, the Evian Championship in France.

She had a month off in Perth, the first part was about media requests and the second part was working on her swing. The break was planned, but spent a week when she won the PGA, a result that means she has a guaranteed playing card for two years.

Green told the LPGA Tour website this week that she had also noticed a major change at home, with people calling her name. "It has certainly been different, but I think because I am still so high up, it is nice to be recognized," she said. "Of course I have been quite popular in my home club and other clubs in Western Australia. I think I have achieved something pretty big, so it is really nice to be recognized."

Green is in her second year on the LPGA Tour and spent a little time in Perth working on her ball education with coach Ritchie Smith, the couple who rated her driving and iron game as relatively poor, although she won in Minneapolis . It was clear that her brilliant well made the difference there.

"So yes, I feel pretty good, it's really nice to be here," she said. "I feel that the month was needed, but it's a long time ago, so it's nice to be back with beautiful Evian."

The Evian is the fourth of five majors on the women's calendar, played with Lake Geneva as a backdrop at the Evian Resort. The tournament runs straight to the Women & Open in England next week.

Australia has five players – Green, world number 4 Minjee Lee, Su Oh, Sarah Kemp and Katherine Kirk participating in the $ 4.1 million event.
