Meghan MacLaren from Great Britain takes a lead of two shots on the final round of the Jordan after a second round Mixed Open round 65 to leapfrog overnight leader Daan Huizing.

MacLaren, 23, followed Huizing with one shot after the first round but placed a second seven-under-par score to continue at the Ayla Golf Club.

The tournament is the first time that men and women compete against each other for the same prize in golf.

"I am very happy," MacLaren said.

She added: "I don't have 65s too often, so two in a row is pretty special, I felt more in control and I took more shots close to the pin today."

The event includes pro & # 39; s of the Ladies European Tour, the European Challenge Tour and the Staysure Tour for seniors, with the rising male stars of the Challenge Tour opposite a 7,100 meter long golf course, the 50- people in the Staysure Tour 6,601 yards and female players 6,139 yards

MacLaren, who spoke out earlier this year against gender pay gaps, says she & # 39; happy & # 39; is with the way the mixed event unfolds after players from each of the three tours made the cut.

"They couldn't have written it better than that," she said. "I think this is a testament to the research that has gone into it. A lot of thought has been given to it and I am glad it will turn out this way."

Co-British trio Paul Streeter, Jack Senior and Oliver Farr are tied for third place in the final round, six shots ahead of eight-under-par.
