Park bags win at Katherine Kirk Classic

Hye Park has continued its remarkable dominance of Australian golf and eliminated the Katherine Kirk Classic at Maroochy River Golf Club.

Park, 16, today hit her fourth national ranking victory on the Sunshine Coast, with her illustrious CV also including the most recent editions of the Australian Junior, QLD and NSW junior.

The RACV Royal Pines product achieved a two-stroke victory over title defender Minji Kweon, for a total of five below 211.

Kweon's opening spot free five under 67 set up for a promising title defense, produced a second round two-under-par 70 to take a one shot buffer to six under more than Seunghui Bong on the way to the final round.

But while the Sanctuary Cove member struggled to find her fine shape that ended with a four out of 76 to end in five, Park maintained her steady momentum to even finish par for the day and seal the win.

Champion Cassie Porter 2017 ended five shots back from Park on equal footing for outright third, while fellow Queensland junior team member, Lion Higo, ended another three battles back.

In the 21 years and under division, Rhianna Lewis of Pelican Waters claimed back-to-back titles with rounds of 73-70-76, 17 shots for Tara Jenkins in second place.

Mia Lines of Royal Queensland has secured the 15 years and under championships with a brilliant little bird on the 18th for a 54-hole total of 230 (79-73-78), two shots away from Grace Byeon of Sanctuary Cove.
