Peninsula Kingswood officially opened

President Rob Dowling and Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews officially open the new Peninsula Kingswood Golf Club.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews officially opened a new jewel yesterday at Melbourne & # 39; s Sandbelt, the Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club (PK).

Official procedures were followed by an exhibition competition between tour professionals Geoff Ogilvy and Marcus Fraser and PK club champions.

Six years in the making, PK is the most important Sandbelt redevelopment course in Australia and is the result of a leading merger between Kingswood Golf Club and Peninsula Country Golf Club, which is a benchmark for other golf clubs.

The 144 hectare site, located in Frankston, consists of a new clubhouse designed by Demaine Partnership and two 18-hole golf courses renewed by the renowned Australian golf architecture firm Ogilvy Clayton Cocking Mead.

The striking facility includes the clubhouse and restaurant, a 25-meter heated swimming pool, a gym, a tennis court, a bowling alley, and luxurious in-house and secluded guest accommodations.

"Peninsula Kingswood is a gift for the golf game – a great test that sits comfortably next to the other Sandbelt gems of Melbourne such as Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath," said Premier Andrews.

"This development is great for Frankston, for jobs and for everyone who loves golf. All involved must be very proud."

Geoff Ogilvy is delighted about the gallery at the PKGC.

PK President Rob Dowling said the club has set a new standard in the Australian wave.

"Today is the culmination of the vision of the directors of two prestigious golf clubs who had the courage to merge, to sell a beloved club and to invest in the future when other clubs failed," Dowling said.

"Peninsula Kingswood sets a new standard. Our courses are designed to stand alongside the world's great pagan circuits, while ensuring playability for golfers of all levels.

"Although we are enriched by the history of both foundation clubs, we look ahead in our attitude to what this golf club can be. We have embraced equal opportunities in the field of golf, we attract new members, we have a program for junior courses developed and we encourage partners, families and children to use the facilities through our family expansion program; we do things differently. "

Mike Cocking from OCCM said the goal of the redevelopment course was to realize the potential of the site by creating a true Sandbelt experience, both in design and in construction.

"It is fair to say that we have never seen a renovation of this scale around the Melbourne Sandbelt. Every green, bunker and tee has been redesigned or rebuilt, fairways re-shaped and re-grassed, creeks and bodies of water added, A state-of-the-art irrigation system (built), cart paths, drainage and vegetation works, "Cocking said.

"What PK has achieved in the last four years is actually what every other Sandbelt course has accomplished in the last 20 or 30 years."

Peninsula Kingswood is a private club with around 2000 members.
