Phillip Price was part of the European team that won the 2002 Ryder Cup

Phillip Price won the Staysure PGA Senior Championship with two shots after a five-par round slot in Kent.

The 54-year old was equal to Peter Lonard from Australia who entered the final round, but an eagle on the 11th brought the Welshman forward at London Golf club.

Rounds of five-under and six-under had brought Price under control on Friday, but his round of 71 on Saturday gave his rivals a chance to close the gap.

The golfer born in Pontypridd, however, kept his calm for the final round.

During Price & # 39; s four rounds of golf had no bogeys on the back nine, cavity 13 birdies and one eagle.

Price's win is his second in three years on the European Senior & # 39; s Tour, and he says it gave him more pleasure than the 2017 win in Germany.

"I have had my wife and two children here, and the children have not seen me win so it made it special. It is nice to have them both here and nice to see me win something.

"I played pretty well throughout the year with many top ten finishes but without a win, so this was a huge relief for me. "
