Red Hot Green leads in Japan

Hannah Green has already won twice on the LPGA Tour in 2019; she may not be ready yet.

Green, the 22-year-old sensation from Perth who won her first major this year, shot a bogey-free 67 to start the Toto Classic in Japan today.

She leads the field at five under par together with Ai Suzuki from Japan.

Another Aussie, Minjee Lee, is just a shot back at Four-Under after being second in Taiwan last week.

The last leg of the Asian swing was good for Green, who loves Japan. "I'm sure we will have a lot of supporters this weekend," she said after her round. “Just really nice to go to the tee box and they clap. Make you smile and give yourself a little confidence for when you are about to hit the tee shot. "

Green was pleased with her steadfastness on the day. "It has been a while since I had a bogey-free lap," she said. "Just very happy I didn't have any bogeys and then I was really consistent throughout the entire round."

Mt Lawley's product said it wanted to close the year strongly. "A very good year for me, of course with two wins and a big championship," she said. "I just wanted to make sure that during this Asia swing, although there was no cutback, I didn't try to pave my way and just concentrate on the end of the year.

" So now I am in this position, I certainly want to continue and hopefully win a few places here and there, just a strong finish at CME, which is a nice way to finish and go to the off season. & # 39; & # 39;

The Toto Japan Classic is the last event of the regular season. The only thing that remains after this 54-hole tournament is the tour championship in Florida.
