Minjee Lee has just missed a top 10 finish at the AIG Women & # 39; s British Open today, when Japan's 20-year-old rookie Hinako Shibuno stole the show.

Lee closed with a 69 to finish eight underpars and 10 shots of the lead.

Although she never threatened to win, it was back to form for the 23 year old Australian, who is number 4 in the world.

Another Western Australian, Hannah Green, also enjoyed a good weekend with a 69 on Sunday to end a new shot in a draw for 16th, while Victorian Su Oh finished 21st after a closing 66, with which she continued its strong form.

Shibuno took two shots in the final round, but was attacked by American Lyzette Salas, who placed 17-under with a brilliant, final round 65 with a lip-out at the last hole.

They were tied when Shibuno came the last, but the Japanese player hit her in the direction of the green and rammed the six-foot birdie-putt home to win.

A double winner in Japan, now has full LPGA Tour playing rights and has won her first major.

"I can't really describe in words what I feel," she said.
