Sue Wooster & # 39; s ambitions to expand its North American trophy collection is one step closer while the Victorian & # 39; s went on to the 32nd round at the US Women & # 39; s Senior Amateur.
Wooster, a member of the National Golf Club on the Mornington Peninsula, secured a promising 4 & 3 win over her American opponent Kim Eaton to keep her dreams alive.
The reigning Australian Senior Amateur champion has never fallen during her 16-hole competition, with bogeys on the 3rd and 7th holes her only stain in an otherwise spectacular round.
Eaton won a hole back with a birdie on the par-3 12th to go to 1-down, but the No.31 seed was no match for a steady Wooster with a trifecta of pars from 13 that secured the win.
Wooster, 57, is number 2 in the 32nd round of tomorrow at the Cedar Rapids Country Club in Iowa, seed Ellen Port.
The seed of No.34 went through to the match play phase after rounds of 79-77 in the line play phase.
The double North and South senior amateur champion arrived in top form after capturing a shared third finish at the English senior ladies open amateur in June.
Wooster received an exemption in the field thanks to her second place in Florida last year, conceding the 16th hole to Lara Tennant in the final.
