Golf Australia is pleased to announce the receipt of a $ 500,000 grant from Sport Australia to roll out the Get Into Golf for Seniors program throughout Australia.
Play golf for seniors and try to increase the physical activity and social cohesion between older Australians through a program that combines golf skill development with light exercises and social activities.
In collaboration with delivery partner Aveo – the largest provider of lifestyle communities in Australia – Golf Australia delivers programs to over 9,000 older Australians at 150 locations across the country in all states and territories. The Get Into Golf for Seniors program will inform older Australians about the benefits of increased exercise and try to make connections between older Australians and their local golf club. Golf clubs act as community nodes across Australia's breadth and breadth, and we believe that golf – as it has been for more than 100 years – will remain a major obstetrician of both physical and mental health benefits for older Australians in the future.
Golf is the second largest organized participation sport in Australia and is truly a game for life, with opportunities to participate in participants from five to 85 years old.
Through the Better Aging exhibition, Golf Australia is proud to continue to deliver a healthier and more active Australia together with Sport Australia.
Further program information will be available from www.golf.org.au from the beginning of July.
