Green: from fan to player
Hannah Green makes her US Women & # 39; s Open debut in Charleston this week
Three years ago, Hannah Green dreamed of playing in the US Open when she watched her idol Karrie Webb from the sidelines.
This week she will live that dream as one of the seven Australians in the field in Charleston.
The exuberant 22-year-old enters the second major of the year with an extra leap in her step after a solid T21 performance last week in Virginia.
"I have the feeling that after the results of last week I will come to the event with a pretty good shape, so I am very enthusiastic," Green told Inside The Ropes.
"I played my second practice session today with Su (Oh) and Karrie, which was great fun.
"I'm used to seeing them play (in the case of an event), so it's nice to be able to play myself – and also have their support.
The Western Australian is gone with her days as a double winner of the Karrie Webb grant (2015, 2016) but remains as modest as ever about her successes.
"It has been a long time since I played in a USGA event, so I know what the registration is like.
"But because I knew the way and got the cards with my name on it, I thought:" Oh, this is a bit strange ". Normally I have the name of Karrie there."
The other Australians in the field are two-time champion Webb, Minjee Lee, Sarah Kemp, Katherine Kirk, Su Oh and Victorian amateur Gabi Ruffels.
